Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

What does Monolithia actually do?

We engineer custom business systems for mid market and SMB operators. That means custom web and mobile applications, spreadsheet to software modernization, cloud architecture, and intelligent automation. We are not an agency that takes a brief and ships features. We are a founder led engineering firm that builds the operational foundations your business runs on.

What industries do you specialize in?

Manufacturing and Logistics are our active focus. We also serve professional services firms on inbound interest. The common pattern across all three: manual processes and spreadsheet-based operations that the team has quietly outgrown.

Where are you located?

Headquartered in Kochi, India. We serve clients globally, delivered remotely with regular video check-ins and overlap hours for US, GCC, and European time zones.

How big is your team?

We are a small, senior led team. Every engagement is led directly by our founder. A director of business development, a developer, and a QA analyst round out the core team. Where engagements need additional delivery capacity, we work with a trusted partner network rather than an agency stack. The person who designs your architecture is the same person who leads the strategic conversation.

Are you an agency or a consultancy?

Neither. We are a founder led engineering firm. Agencies take requirements and ship features. Consultancies write recommendations and leave. We diagnose the problem, design the architecture, build the system, and stay accountable for whether it actually works in your operation.

How involved do I need to be during the engagement?

Your leadership team is involved in the first few sessions where we understand your workflows and design the architecture. After that, your involvement is a short weekly check-in. We handle the engineering, design, testing, and deployment. You stay informed without being burdened.

Will you challenge our ideas or just build what we ask for?

We will challenge you. Respectfully, but directly. If a request does not tie back to a real operational outcome or creates unnecessary complexity, we will say so and propose a better path. That is what separates a strategic partner from a vendor.

What happens if requirements change during the engagement?

Requirements evolve. We expect that. Our approach validates direction regularly and adjusts scope to keep the build tied to the outcome you are trying to reach. The architecture is designed to accommodate change without expensive rework.

Do we own the code and IP?

Yes. One hundred percent. Every line of architecture, every design asset, every document created during the engagement is your intellectual property. Full transfer at the end of the engagement. No licensing fees. No lock in. No dependencies on us to keep running.

What happens after the engagement ends?

You own everything. Your team is trained. Documentation is comprehensive. If you want ongoing care for the platform, we offer BuildX Assurance, our monthly care plan covering security patches, dependency updates, server maintenance, monitoring, and bug fixes against the accepted spec. You are never obligated to continue.

How do you communicate during the engagement?

Weekly video check-ins with your leadership team. Async updates via your preferred channel (Slack, Teams, or email). A shared view of milestone progress. You always know exactly where things stand.

What technology stack do you use?

We select every tool and framework based on your specific requirements, not our preferences. Our team has deep expertise across Node.js, React, Next.js, Flutter, Python (Django), PHP (Laravel), PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Firebase, AWS, and AI platforms including Claude, OpenAI, and Gemini. The right stack for your business is always the starting point.

Can you work with our existing systems?

Yes. Our philosophy is Intelligent Evolution, not rip and replace. If your existing systems have value (and they usually do), we build on them. We design integration architecture that connects your legacy and modern systems. We only recommend rebuilding a component when the cost of maintaining it exceeds the cost of replacing it.

How do you handle security?

Security is built into the architecture from day one, not bolted on at the end. Encryption at rest and in transit. Role based access controls. Comprehensive audit logging. Compliance-ready architecture for regulatory requirements specific to your industry.

Do you support the systems after launch?

During the engagement, we provide full support and monitoring. After handover, your team is trained and equipped to maintain the systems independently. For ongoing support, BuildX Assurance is our monthly care plan covering security patches, dependency updates, server maintenance, monitoring, and bug fixes against the accepted spec.

What is the 30-Day Pilot Build?

A paid, fixed-price engagement where we build three working workflow modules of your operation, live in 30 days. Login and user management are included as plumbing. Founder led delivery. Intended as a real delivery, not a diagnostic. Most clients start here.

What does the Pilot Build cost?

INR 1,00,000 plus GST in India. USD 5,000 for clients outside India. Flat. Fifty percent on kickoff, fifty percent on delivery. No staged billing beyond that.

What is the Pilot Build guarantee?

Dual guarantee. Delivery. If we miss the 30-day mark for reasons on our side, we continue at no extra charge and give you twenty-five percent off BuildX, our full custom build, when you upgrade. Fitness for purpose. After fourteen days of live use, if the build is not solving the scoped problem, we refund fifty percent and you keep the code and deployment.

Who is the Pilot Build for?

Founders and operators at SMBs still running critical workflows on Excel, WhatsApp, email, or paper. Manufacturing and Logistics are the primary fits. We also serve professional services firms on inbound interest. If you are running a 50-million-row Oracle migration, we are not the right partner.

How many Pilot Builds do you run at once?

Two at a time. Founder led delivery means capacity is the binding constraint. We would rather deliver two Pilots well than six badly.

What is BuildX?

BuildX is Monolithia's full custom operational software build for SMB operators, delivered in 30-day milestone cycles. Each cycle is scoped, priced, and accepted on its own. Most builds resolve in three to six cycles. The indicative band is USD 20,000 to 80,000, scoped per build.

How is BuildX different from the 30-Day Pilot Build?

The 30-Day Pilot Build is a single 30-day delivery of three working modules at a flat price (USD 5,000 or INR 1,00,000). It is the low-risk way into Monolithia. BuildX is the full operational system, built one 30-day milestone cycle at a time, scoped per build. Most clients begin with the Pilot and graduate into BuildX, but you can start with BuildX directly.

What does BuildX cost?

The indicative band is USD 20,000 to 80,000, depending on scope. Each 30-day milestone cycle is invoiced at its kickoff in advance. The total is the outcome of the cycle count, not a number we lock in at the start. You are buying one cycle at a time.

How long does BuildX take?

Each milestone is 30 days. Most builds resolve in three to six cycles, so three to six months of delivery time. Acceptance gates between cycles mean the next milestone is not invoiced or scoped until the current one is signed off — you are never paying for two cycles at once.

What is the BuildX four-part guarantee stack?

On-Time Guarantee: each milestone ships on its date, or it is discounted. Acceptance Guarantee: each milestone must meet written acceptance criteria before the next is billed or started. Walk-Away Guarantee: stop after any 30-day cycle with no penalty. No-Deprioritisation Guarantee: founder accountable on every milestone, your build is never paused for a larger client.

Can we skip the Pilot and start with BuildX?

Yes. For clients ready to commit, BuildX is scoped from the first call. Cycle one is structured to do the de-risking the Pilot would have done: requirements, design, and a signed-off prototype before the first build milestone starts.

What happens after BuildX delivers?

The platform enters BuildX Assurance, the monthly care plan that maintains it. Security patches, dependency updates, server maintenance, monitoring, and bug fixes against the accepted spec. Sized to the build, re-scoped after each subsequent BuildX cycle adds to the platform's footprint.

What is BuildX Assurance?

BuildX Assurance is Monolithia's monthly maintenance subscription that keeps a delivered platform healthy after a Pilot or BuildX delivery. Security patches, dependency updates, server maintenance, monitoring, and bug fixes against the accepted spec. Sized to the build, billed monthly, cancellable monthly.

What is the difference between a bug and a change under Assurance?

A bug is a built feature deviating from its accepted spec, and bugs are Assurance. A change is the spec itself moving, a new feature, a new module, or a behaviour change. Changes are scoped as a new BuildX cycle. We draw the line in writing so there is no ambiguity in the moment.

How is BuildX Assurance priced?

Monthly care plan, sized to the build. The plan scales with what it covers. After each BuildX cycle adds to the platform's footprint, Assurance is re-scoped and re-priced. You always know what is in scope this month.

Can I get BuildX Assurance on a Pilot deployment?

Yes. Assurance is available on Pilot deployments too. The plan is smaller because the surface area is smaller. Hourly ad hoc support also remains available for clients who prefer not to subscribe.

How do we get started?

Book a 20-minute fit call. We will talk through the workflow you want to replace or the operational system you want to build. We scope either a 30-Day Pilot Build, BuildX, or BuildX Assurance depending on where you are.

What should we prepare before the fit call?

Nothing specific. Come ready to talk about the workflow that is breaking, your current systems, and what is frustrating your team. We will guide the conversation from there. If you have a screenshot of the spreadsheet or the WhatsApp thread that runs your operation, bring it.

How quickly can we start after the fit call?

If the scope is a fit and a slot is open, kickoff can begin within one to two weeks of signing.
